Privacy Policy
A clear explanation of the information FuelUp Ghana uses to provide and protect your digital fuel wallet.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how FuelUp Ghana (“FuelUp”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles personal information when you use the FuelUp website, driver app, digital fuel wallet, QR or physical fuel card, and related services.
Effective date: 3 August 2026
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use FuelUp, we may collect:
- your name, email address, phone number, and account role;
- your FuelUp ID, QR credential, digital wallet pass identifier, and physical-card details;
- wallet balance, top-ups, transfers, fuel purchases, station, amount, date, and transaction status;
- physical-card delivery address when you order a card;
- authentication and security information, including encrypted password credentials, passkeys, app tokens, and card security status;
- device, browser, operating system, IP address, app activity, diagnostics, and push-notification token; and
- messages and other information you provide when contacting support.
FuelUp does not currently request precise device location or vehicle information. If those features are introduced, we will update this policy and request any permission required before collecting that information.
3. How we use information
- create, authenticate, secure, and manage accounts;
- provide wallet balances, QR and physical cards, transfers, and fuel purchases;
- initialize and confirm payments and maintain transaction records;
- verify FuelUp cards and share the information needed for a station to complete a purchase;
- detect misuse, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and protect users and stations;
- send security, payment, card, and other important service notifications;
- provide support, diagnose problems, and improve performance; and
- comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations.
4. Payments
FuelUp uses Paystack to process wallet top-ups and card-related payments. FuelUp does not receive or store your full bank-card number, CVV, or mobile-money PIN. Payment credentials are entered into and processed by Paystack under its own privacy and security practices.
We receive transaction details such as the amount, payment reference, status, method, and limited payer information needed to confirm and reconcile a payment.
5. Service providers
We use third parties to operate FuelUp, including:
- Google Firebase: Authentication, Firestore database, and Cloud Messaging;
- Paystack: payment processing and settlement services;
- WalletWallet: creation and operation of digital fuel passes;
- Vercel: application hosting, operational logs, and website analytics; and
- Brevo: transactional and account email delivery.
These providers process information only as needed to deliver their services and may process it outside Ghana, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
6. How we share information
We may share limited information:
- with the providers listed above;
- with a participating fuel station when needed to identify your FuelUp card, request your approval, complete a purchase, or handle a dispute;
- with professional advisers, auditors, or business service providers under confidentiality obligations;
- when required by law, court order, a lawful government request, or to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of FuelUp; or
- as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the business, with appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information.
7. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including authenticated access, encrypted connections, restricted administrative access, and security monitoring. No system is completely secure, so users should protect their password, passkey, device, and physical card and notify us promptly of suspected misuse.
8. Data retention and deletion
We retain account information while your account is active and delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. When you delete your account, your Firebase sign-in account, FuelUp profile, push tokens, passkeys, card PIN, and open card or credit requests are deleted.
Completed payment and transaction records may be retained in de-identified or restricted form for the period required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and other legal obligations. Information held in backups or by a payment provider may remain until that provider’s normal retention period expires. We may also retain information where the law requires or permits it.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal information and may object to certain processing. You may update information through your account or contact us.
You can permanently delete your account from the bottom of the signed-in Driver dashboard or Driver app. Review the warning carefully: deletion ends access to the wallet and cannot be undone. You can also email us to request deletion if you cannot access your account.
10. Children’s privacy
FuelUp is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as FuelUp or the law changes. We will post the revised policy here with a new effective date and provide an in-app, email, or other prominent notice when a change materially affects your rights.
